Good News for Peru: There are more species than they are known in Alto Nanay
The Rio Nanay, back in the news and we are comforted to know that fish species are not yet registered for the records of Peru, as it could be less since the Nanay, has not yet been studied in full, except those carried out quickly by the IIAP and on this occasion the feed the Environmental Impact Assessment Company Ltd. Burlington Resources Peru where they conclude that there are up Seven species of fish new to Peru.

This finding could mean that the Rio Nanay still has not shown us the best, is the most biodiverse in comparison with other basins in the Peruvian Amazon and probably worldwide and therefore the more important to science and humanity, as scholars in the field say.
I must thank the biologists hired by the company mentioned lines above, since it not been for them, these species in my childhood, used either as bait and fried food served with a portion of boiled cassava with cocona sauce (30 years ago), today is a important announcement we are proud as biodiverse country.

Who else do we thank?, Organized communities on outward to the "killer dredges," remember when mined gold contaminating this valuable habitat?, many did not understand that defending life, but defending this great biodiversity, every day more precious and unique in its category.
then reproduce an excerpt from comments made by the EIA and social development (EIAS) **: "The results of the taxonomic assessment of fish also allowed to register at least seven and five species in the humid and wet season respectively as probable new records for the Peruvian continental ichthyofauna (Photo 4.2.6-2 and 4.2.6-3.) These are, for the wet season the "minnows" Aphyocharacidium sp., Hemigrammus aff. voderwinkleri, Hemigrammus cf. analis, Hemigrammus cf. belottii, Hyphessobrycon aff. Callistus, Moenkhausia cf. megalops, Moenkhausia jamesi and Leptocharacidium sp. Also very wet season were Amazonsprattus scintilla, Aphyodite cf. grammica "minnows" Hemigrammus levis, Characidium cf. purpuratum and "bagrecito" cf. Mastiglanis. unique species in the region of Loreto, which are unique in the Upper Nanay (native community Alvarenga Photo 1) is the Annostomus sp. Among others that far exceed other basins, in my experience as a fisherman see also other one " charac exquisite "in the Black Water Creek, this can be captured in the" cochita "which are miniature lakes, unique habitats in the world that also bear habitats of large catfish fingerlings (pimelodidaes, etc.), which in many adult cases their actions are less than the usual size found in larger rivers.
